Welcome to the Laboratory for Molecular Visualization and Analysis (LMVA). The mission of the LMVA facility is to provide access to state-of-the-art visualization and computational tools for structural and functional analysis of proteins and nucleic acids, and for the design of synthetic ligands and drugs. The facility is designed provide ready access to major commercial and open source software on high performance graphics and computing platforms, which are located in close proximity to many of the research laboratories in which basic biochemical, proteomic, genomic, and pharmaceutical research is conducted. THE LMVA is a collaborative venture among investigators in the Center for Advanced Biology and Immunology (CAMBI), the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Department of Chemistry, and the Science and Engineering Node Services (SENS) of UB. The facility was established by major shared equipment grants from the National Center for Research Resources, National Institutes of Health, and enhanced by gifts and grants from Hewlett Packard (HP) and Sun Microsystems Inc. The LMVA software and hardware resources are maintained by SENS, and server investigators at non-profit research institutions throughout western New York, including UB and Hauptmann-Woodward Institute. |
